Robin Singh or Sachin Tendulkar

Analyzing the IPL final, most have questioned Mumbai’s tactics while praising Chennai’s. Fair enough. But, while captain Dhoni gets the accolades for Chennai’s tactics, it’s coach Robin Singh that gets the brickbats for Mumbai’s strategy. All through the season, Sachin’s captaincy was been widely praised. He was even awarded the viewer’s choice award for best captain. But, as soon as they lose, Robin Singh is blamed. Why?

Don’t get me wrong. I am a huge fan of Tendulkar. And, I am not trying to blame him for Mumbai’s strange tactics. I just find this media double standard amusing.

  1. Well said. First thought that struck me too after reading that article from Cricinfo. In the animal farm that is Indian cricket, SRT is the holy cow, while Robin Singh is only a scapegoat.

  2. I agree with you. It is unfortunate how we shy from pointing out mistakes of Sachin, for we just simply can not bring ourselves to the fact that he made a mistake. Of course, I am a big fan of the little man, but then I do believe that there was some mistake made here in this match.
